Staycation Fun at the Mall of America

We stayed home during spring vacation but wanted to have some fun like a tourist in our own home town. We definitely felt like we were on vacation while we spent the day at the Mall of America. We started out at FlyOver America, a few rides at Nickelodeon Universe, lunch, SeaLife Aquarium, and finished up on more rides. It was exhausting for mom and dad but the kids in our groups never got tired.

FlyOverAmerica is my absolutely favorite attraction at the Mall of America. It is part ride and part movie. I have no idea how many people are viewing the movie at the same time as us because I only see a few people sitting right next to us, so the experience feels like it's all for us.
While sitting in the comfortable seats, we fly over the entire country.
There is also a FlyOver Canada movie but I have not seen that one yet. It probably is just as good as the America movie.
I bought our tickets ahead of time online and got a 10% discount off of each ticket.
During lunch, I noticed a sign on a table that said if you showed your lunch receipt at the FlyOver America ticket booth, you can get a 15% discount if you mention a discount code.

SeaLife Aquarium is worth a visit! It just recently underwent a slight remodel. The path was reversed so now you start out in the rainforest with several colorful frogs and a tarantula or two.
Then on to the aquarium hall where you are surrounded by amazing sea creatures! Large turtles, rays, and sharks swim right over your head! The tide pool offers a hands-on experience where you can touch anemones and starfish. We love the jellyfish in tall tanks with colorful lights that make the invertebrates look eerie and magical.
We have memberships for two of us and were able to purchase guest tickets for the rest of our group at half-price.
Online tickets prices are lower than the price at the door. There are also deals when you combine an aquarium pass with a Nickelodeon pass when you purchase at guest services at both locations. https://www.visitsealife.com/minnesota/tickets/
Nickelodeon Universe
Rides are 3, 6, and 9 points. We weren't sure who would want to go on what rides so we bought the 84 points pass and figured we could buy more if needed. For us on this trip, it worked great. If you have teens who you know will want to go on rides all day, then get the all-day pass. Again, tickets are cheaper online. You can even just buy them on your phone while you are at the mall. If you are staying in a nearby hotel, there might be coupons available. Ask your concierge.

We had a great time at the MOA and will go back again sometime soon. There is always something new to see, or eat, or experience!
