Hyland Hills Ski Area

8800 Chalet Road

Bloomington, MN 55438

**Prices Updated as of Dec. 29, 2018**

With the temperature well below zero lately, skiing might not be on

everyone's mind but the Little Binkle loves to jump on the chairlift and fly down the slopes.

Lessons last an hour and a half and afterward she loves to take a few extra runs. When she is not with the teacher, she is a speed demon. It is a bit scary to watch but she looks so happy and free as she flies down the hill looking like a pink starfish.

Hours from mid-November to mid-March are:

M - F 9:30 am - 9pm

Sat/Sun 9am - 9pm

The trail map below can be found at the Hyland Hills website:

Parking is free down the road. Just take a shuttle ride from the parking lot to the chalet. We have never waited for a shuttle bus. They run continuously all day. If we are running late for a lesson, we have parked in the closer pay lot. For $2 an hour ($10/day max) you can be just steps from the chalet.

Food choices at the Hyland Grill include hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, fries, pancakes, omelets, pretzels, nachos, hot chocolate, macaroni and cheese, and more.

The specials are what makes me head over to the ski chalet in the off season when the restaurant is called Morty's. This week offers fish tacos (very yummy!), three different scratch-made soups, a big specialty burger, and a cajun pasta dish.

My daughter loves the hot chocolate!

This information can be found at the Hyland Hills website. You can even buy your pass online.

*UPDATE*

I have had two separate private lessons myself so I could learn how to ski. I was a "never ever" skier. That is I have never, ever skied downhill. For $85 I received a private 90 minute lesson, lift ticket good for the rest of the day, and equipment rental.

It was fantastic! I learned how to ride the Magic Carpet to get to the top of the training hill. I zigged and zagged down. I rode two of the chairlifts. I learned a couple different ways to get back upright after a fall. My instructors were patient and very knowledgeable. I look forward to many more skiing days at Hyland Hills.
