The Year of Living Danishly by Helen Russell
I became aware of Helen Russell by watching the a video of her speech at Nomadic Matt's Travelcon. Helen, a Brit, talked about living with her husband "Lego Man" in Denmark. They did not choose to live in a big city but rather in a quieter setting by the seaside . A fun read that reminds me of Eric Dregni's In Cod We Trust, Pamela Druckerman's Bringing up Bebe, and Adam Gopnik's Paris to the Moon. If you are an American parent you will immediately become jealous of the reasonably priced (and sometimes free!) childcare available in countries other than our own. I really want to visit Denmark and taste some delicious cinnamon snegles. Mmmmm snegles.
